Our Actvities
In January we celebrated our 96th birthday by holding a party in the Community Centre. Our members were asked to wear purple, green and white to acknowledge the centenary of the suffragettes' fight for votes for women. The colour theme spilled over onto the tables which were decorated in similar colours with helium balloons gently floating above decorative vases of purple and white flowers. Members enjoyed a superb buffet supper, entertainment by a local choir and, of course, they sang 'Jerusalem'.
What are the Ingleborough WI Activities?
· Craft Group: Meet in the Community Centre every Wednesday at 1.00 pm.
· Rambling Group: Meet on The Square, Ingleton, at 1.30 pm each Wednesday.
· Singing Group: Meets at 7.00pm on the 1st Monday of each month.
· Trips to places of interest are organised each year.
· Birthday Party: Ingleborough WI was formed in 1922 so every year a party is organised in March to celebrate our birthday. This takes the form of a Jacob’s Join with some form of entertainment.
· Members’ Night: In June each year, as a thank you to the committee, members organise the meeting. This usually involves a speaker or activity, together with a Jacob’s Join supper.
· Ingleton Gala Afternoon Teas: Members support the community event by providing refreshments in the Community Centre
· Christmas Party: In December the committee organise a party and buffet supper for the members.
· Jumble Sale: Annual fund raising event
· Presentation Lunch: In January the full membership enjoys a special lunch at a local hostelry followed by the presentation of cups and awards from the previous year.
Recently we raised over £500 for Breast Cancer Care by organising an Afternoon Tea event in the Community Centre
